Carcassonne is a tile placement game where players draw and place a tile featuring a piece of southern French landscape. The tile can have a city, a road, a monastery, grasslands, or a combination thereof, and it must be placed next to tiles that have already been played in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, etc.
Inns & Cathedrals introduces new tiles, new pieces, and new rules to Carcassonne, and it increases the number of players from five to six, as an extra set of pieces is included. With the expansion comes "the big man," which is a playing piece/meeple that is larger than the others. Each player receives one of these "big men," and they count as two men when determining control over a city, road, or field.
The expansion also introduces new landscape tiles, including country road inns, which double a road's value if the road is completed, and cathedrals, which double a city's value if the city is completed.
This is an expansion and can not be played without the base game Carcassonne.
On your turn, you must perform the following actions in order:
You can place a man and retrieve it in the same turn if you thereby complete a road, city, or monastery. The markers are counted at the end, meaning men on fields remain throughout the game.
The player with the most points wins the game.
