If you play one of our card games, such as Magic the Gathering or Pokémon, you’ll probably want to take really good care of your cards. The best way to protect your cards from dirt and wear is by putting them in card sleeves. Card sleeves come in many different types, from clear plastic on both sides, to colored backs, or backs featuring designs like dragons. For extra protection, you can “double-sleeve” your cards — this means placing the card in a snug inner sleeve and then sealing it inside a slightly larger outer sleeve.

Deck Boxes

When storing and transporting your decks, deck boxes are the perfect solution. Deck boxes are made from hard materials to withstand bumps and impacts. In addition, the box closes completely, keeping your cards protected from dust and other small particles.

Dice

In both Magic the Gathering and other games, you sometimes need to keep track of your life points or score. Instead of writing it down on paper, you can use dice. Simply roll the die to change the number, or add/remove a die as needed. You may also need to place counters on your cards. Here, a simple die is an elegant and clearer solution compared to placing many individual markers.

Besides traditional six-sided dice, there are also special spin-down dice, specifically designed to track life in Magic. This is a 20-sided die, but instead of numbers being randomly arranged, they are sequentially ordered. This makes it easy, for example, to go from 20 to 17 life without having to search all around the die for the right number.

Playmats

When playing your cards, using a playmat can be very useful. Playmats are made from the same material as mouse pads and prevent wear from playing on a hard surface. Binders

Binders are a practical and elegant way to store your card collection when you’re not playing. The binders have a sturdy cover and transparent plastic pages, typically allowing you to store 3 x 3 cards per page. Some binders have “sideloaders,” where cards are inserted from the side, preventing dust from falling in from above. If you want to take extra care of your cards, you can get a zippered binder, keeping your cards safe both on the shelf and in your bag.
