Pandemic Legacy is the classic cooperative game Pandemic in a special Legacy edition.
In Pandemic players cooperate through their respective specialists to protect humanity from diseases and outbreaks. Together, they must overcome the diseases to win the game.
In Pandemic Legacy, four deadly diseases must be contained, but as the year progresses and things change, the situation becomes increasingly worse and more difficult. Unlike other games, the choices players make in Pandemic Legacy will affect the game the next time it is played. The choices will permanently alter the game.
Legacy games are a unique type of game where you permanently change the game. There will be envelopes that can only be opened at specific times, there will be sealed compartments in the box, there will be stickers used to alter the game board or cards that must be destroyed. Legacy games change based on the choices players make during and between games, and each Legacy game becomes a unique copy that reflects the choices made by the individual gaming group - and many of those choices are irreversible.
Pandemic Legacy Season 1 comes in two different versions, a red and a blue. The contents of the two versions are the same.
How to play Pandemic Legacy:
Each player has 4 actions they can take each turn:
- You can travel around the world in various ways. Perhaps it is necessary to discard a card to reach your destination faster?
- You can build structures like research stations, treat diseases (remove a marker from the board, and - if all dice of a color have been removed - eradicate the disease)
- You can trade cards with other players or
- You can find a cure for a disease, but it requires five cards of the same color and that you are at a research station.
Each player has a unique role with special abilities that help them solve their part of the challenge. Each month in the game, you have two opportunities to reach this month's goal. If you succeed, you win and immediately move on to the next month. If you fail, it becomes even more difficult to save the world and eradicate the disease.
Throughout the game, new rules and components are introduced. These will sometimes require you to permanently change parts of the game - for example, by writing on cards, opening new cards, and placing permanent stickers on components. Your characters can gain new skills or harmful effects. A character can even be completely lost and will no longer be part of the game.
