How to play Meyer

Meyer is a game where the goal is to continuously roll higher and higher combinations with two dice.

The combinations have the following hierarchy (from highest to lowest):
1 + 2: Meyer

  • 1 + 3: Little Meyer
  • 6 + 6: Pair 6
  • 5 + 5: Pair 5
  • Pair 4, 3, 2, and 1
  • 6 + 5: 65
  • 6 + 4: 64
  • 63, 62, 61, 54, 53, etc. all the way down to 32

The dice are placed between the two shaking cups, after which they are shaken.

You carefully lift the top shaking cup to see what you have rolled – keep the roll hidden from the other players.

You can choose to say what you have – e.g., 63, i.e., 6 + 3 – or you can bluff and say a higher combination before passing the dice to the next player.

He or she can then either choose to believe you and must roll a corresponding roll (63) or higher, or he or she can choose to lift the shaking cup to see what the previous roll was.

If what was said was true, then the player who lifted loses, and if it was not true, then the player who rolled loses the current round.

The higher the combinations become, the greater the chance that players are lying.

If you have rolled a lower combination than required and for some reason cannot lie, you can instead choose to roll again and pass the dice without looking at them in the hope that there is a higher combination between the cups.

All participants have a die in front of them. This die serves as a scorecard. Everyone starts with the die showing 6 pips up.

If you lose a round, you turn the die so that it shows 1 less. When you get down to 1 pip, you have one last chance to stay in the game. The next time you lose, you are out.
