To opponents meet each other on either side of a "battle line," and try to win a battle by capturing 5 out of 9 flags, or 3 flags in a row. You fight for a flag by playing a hand of 3 cards in a poker-like arrangement on either side of the flag. The side with the highest "hand" wins the flag.
Battle Line is a card game for 2 players, built around warfare during the time of Alexander the Great. What does your battle line look like? Will you use your elephants to break a hole in the enemy's front, or get Alexander to the front to capture a critical flag? Perhaps you send the cavalry to lead or reinforce a crucial point in the line, or rely on your spies to provide you with information about the enemy's strengths. Whatever the case, you always have plenty of choices.
Can you, like Alexander, rule sovereignly?
Battle Line is an updated edition of the game "Schotten-Totten," with new illustrations, components, and changed rules.
The games are identical, except that the cards go from 1-10, you have 7 cards in hand, and the rule that stones can only be claimed at the start of your turn is presented as an "advanced variant." Tactic cards that were first introduced in later editions of "Schotten-Totten" are also included.
