Late summer, 54 BC: In a series of brilliant and brutal campaigns, Caesar has seized Gaul. But not all tribes are quiet. In the north, the Belgian leader Ambiorix sets a trap for the unwary legions while Caesar is away. In the south, an ambitious son of the Arverni seeks to unite a Celtic confederation in rebellion against the hated Romans. And what about the influential Aedui? Their republic seems content to shelter under Roman protection - but can they trust other Gauls? Meanwhile, Germanic warbands are forming along the Rhine...
Falling Sky takes 1 to 4 players into the military actions and complex politics of Roman-occupied, yet unconquered Gaul. Caesar and his hard-hitting legions cannot be everywhere and will not prevail without powerful allies among the local tribes. But each Gallic confederation has its own agenda and must keep an eye not only on the Romans but also on Celtic, Belgian, and Germanic rivals. Players recruit forces, gather allies, resources for war, and balance action with the effectiveness and risks of concentrated combat.
In Falling Sky, one to four players each take on the role of one or more factions in Gaul: The Roman Republic, seeking to secure Julius Caesar's recent conquests; an anti-Roman confederation led by the Celts, the Arverni tribe and its young king Vercingetorix; its Celtic rival, the generally pro-Roman Aedui confederation; and the fierce Belgian tribes in the north led by the chieftain Ambiorix.
