Betrayal at Baldurs Gate is a cooperative game based on the award-winning board game Betrayal at House on the Hill. Here you will be taken back to Baldurs Gate, where you must explore dark alleys and catacombs. It requires mental strength to endure, and one of you will soon turn against the rest, but who?
Each adventurer has 4 "traits" displayed with numbers on their cards: Might, Speed, Knowledge, and Sanity. Many cards in the game affect these traits in one way or another. At the lowest number, there is a skull - if a trait drops to this after the haunt has begun, your adventurer dies. No one can die before the haunt starts.
On your turn, you can perform 6 different actions:
The Haunt
When the haunt starts, the game changes significantly. Each time an Omen card is drawn, the number of dice matching the number of Omens must be rolled. This is called a Haunt Roll. If you roll over 6 on a Haunt Roll, the Haunt begins.
When that happens, a tile with an omen symbol must first be drawn, and the player who rolled over 6 must look at the haunt chart in the Traitor's Tome - it shows what the haunt is and who the traitor is - the player will also be informed of this.
Players can still do the same things they could before, but they no longer make Haunt Rolls. However, the traitor gets 2 turns, their own and the monsters', and they are also assigned some new abilities:
The side (either heroes or traitors) that first completes their goal has won the game.
