Codenames is a party game about secret agents and codenames.
Two rival Spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents, while the agents only know their team by their codenames.

In Codenames two teams of spies compete to see who can first make contact with their agents. The Spymasters give clues in the form of a single word, which the agents must use to find their partners on the game board. The goal is to find your own team and avoid the other team - and especially to avoid the assassin.

How to play Codenames:

The Spymasters know the secret identities of the 25 agents. Their teammates only know the agents by their codenames. In turn, each Spymaster gives a clue of just one word to their team. The clue can relate to one or more words on the table.

The spies try to guess which words their Spymaster meant. When a spy touches a word, the Spymaster must reveal the card's secret identity. If it is one of the team's agents, the spies may guess again. If not, the turn passes to the other team. The team that first makes contact with all of its agents has won.

If you are the Spymaster, you need to come up with a clue of one word that relates to some of the words your team needs to guess. When you have a good clue, you say it to your team. You must also say a number that tells your teammates how many codenames your clue relates to.

When a Spymaster gives a clue, the spies must try to figure out what it means. They can talk among themselves, but the Spymaster must not react to what is being said. The spies show the team's official guess when one of the players places a finger on the codename on the table.

Spies must always guess at least one word. A wrong guess means the turn is over, but if the team guesses a word in the team's color, they may continue guessing.

The game ends when one of the teams has covered all of its words. That team wins.
