In this type of game, the game board often consists of a series of rooms and corridors that attempt to replicate dark caves, mysterious castles, or space stations. The theme can vary greatly but mostly leans towards fantasy or science fiction. The individual rooms and corridors can usually be assembled in countless ways. Often there are missions that dictate how the rooms should be placed. But it's not all about combating enemies; exploring the map and discovering what lies in the remotest corners is often just as big a part of the games.
