Mega Empires: The West is a strategic board game for 5-9 players, where you lead a historical civilization from the Stone Age to the late Iron Age – with a main focus on the Mediterranean region. Build cities, expand your population, develop your culture and science, and trade your way to wealth and victory points in a game that combines great historical scale with accessible game mechanics.

🌍 Gameplay

• Each civilization starts with one population token and gradually expands its empire through expansion, border conflicts, and city development.

• Cities provide access to trade cards, which contain both valuable goods and potential disasters.

🤝 Trade – the central mechanic of the game

• In the trade phase, all players interact socially and try to collect sets of valuable resources.

• Some cards hide secret disasters, which strike after the trades and can dramatically change the course of the game.

🧠 Development of civilization technologies

• Use your wealth to develop 51 different technological advancements, such as:

  • Metalworking (advantage in conflicts)

  • Architecture (faster city building)

  • Enlightenment (reduces the effect of disasters)

• Advancements are divided into art, craftsmanship, science, civil society, and religion, and provide discounts for related upgrades.

• The ultimate technology – Wonder of the World – can only be achieved by the most strategic players.

🏆 How to win

• The winner is the civilization that has best expanded its position, avoided enemies, and survived disasters.

• The game lasts up to 12 hours and requires patience, planning, and diplomacy.

Play with up to 18 players!
Combine with Mega Empires: The East and create an epic game for up to 18 participants. The West focuses on ship movement and the Mediterranean, while The East focuses on *land-based movement in Northeast Africa and Asia. Both games are balanced and designed to be played together without significantly increasing the playtime, as many phases are played simultaneously.
