  • Tile-laying games
  • Dexterity games
  • Economic games
  • Dungeon crawls

  • Abstract games

... and many more! You will definitely be able to find games on BoardGameGeek that you have never seen in a store before. In connection with the game database, users of the site also have the opportunity to rate games on a scale from one to ten. Therefore, lists are often published showing the ratings the various games have received – including BoardGameGeek's top 100.

A growing database

BoardGameGeek is constantly updated by its ever-growing user base. At the time of writing, there are more than two million registered users, contributing to BoardGameGeek being the largest and best-updated board game database. It is a website that we here at Card Collective are very fond of and use frequently when assessing which new board games should come home to the webshop and store. Since its inception, BoardGameGeek has expanded with two new websites that cover two other areas, namely RPG and video games. These websites are called RPGGeek and VideoGameGeek and are built on the same system as the original site.

The great acclaim

Since 2005, BoardGameGeek has hosted an annual board game convention named BGG.CON. The conference focuses on trying out and playing various board games and on announcing the winner of the prestigious Golden Geek Award. This award is given annually and marks the year's best new board game. The winners are selected based on votes among the site's registered users.

BoardGameGeek not only awards honors but has also received recognition itself. In 2010, BoardGameGeek received the Diana Jones Award. This is also an annual award, and it honors "excellence in gaming" and can be awarded to everything from individuals and products to organizations or, as in this case, a website. BoardGameGeek received the award for honoring the website as an unparalleled resource for board and card players. That same year, BoardGameGeek received the Inno-Spatz Award from the German city of Göttingen for its unparalleled achievements in the board game world.

BoardGameGeek can be a really nice place to draw inspiration from if you need to buy a game as a gift for others. That is also the reason why we here at Card Collective have chosen to make their top 100 list a category of its own. If you want to be sure to bring home a good board game, then take a look at the games in this category. You can find the complete list of games in BGG's top 100 on BoardGameGeek's own website. With this list, you can also cross-reference which of the games from the list we also have in stock here at cardcollective.eu.

At Card Collective, we are happy to help you find just the right game for you and your gaming friends. We are happy to provide advice and suggestions to make your gaming experience even better, so you can come to love board games just as much as we do. You are also welcome to come down to our physical store in Aalborg and see our selection of board games. You can even sit down in the Game Room and try out some of our games.
