Tickets for Events

At Card Collective, we host many different events for card and miniature games. In addition to our regular weekly events (see here), we also hold several larger events, usually in the form of tournaments that typically last a whole day. We have previously held tournaments in Magic, Pokémon, Warhammer, and Keyforge. One of our most popular recurring events is the Magic the Gathering Pre-Release.

We also hold some events that you cannot buy tickets for. You can see an overview of all our events on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CardCollective/events

HeaderMore about Magic Pre-ReleaseBlockText2

The Magic pre-release is an event that takes place four times a year, coinciding with the release of new card sets for Magic the Gathering. A Magic pre-release gives players the opportunity to play with the newest cards a week before they officially go on sale. The pre-release always takes place over 3 days; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, where each day is its own independent event. You can come and participate for a single day, or play all three days if you just can't get enough of Magic.

At a pre-release, you buy a pre-made pack at a favorable price. The pack usually contains 6 booster packs each with 16 random cards from the newest set, 1 promo card, and 1 spindown die to keep track of how much life you have. From the cards found in the 6 booster packs, you must construct your own 40-card deck. You can always borrow land cards at Card Collective in Aalborg if you haven't found the ones you need. Of course, you get to keep all the cards from the booster packs you open yourself. Once all participants have built a deck, a tournament is held over three or four rounds, depending on the number of players. There are prizes for the best-placed players.

Magic pre-release events are suitable for both new and old players. For new players, the pre-release is a great way to acquire new cards and play a lot of matches with brand new cards. It's also an opportunity to meet other players who can surely teach a trick or two. For more experienced players, the pre-release is a chance to acquire the newest cards before everyone else and get them tested in a tournament, so you are ahead with the best new options and strategies. Whether you are new, old, or somewhere in between, it's a pleasure to come and play Magic the Gathering at Card Collective in Aalborg, where there is always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

In addition to participating in the tournament, during the three-day pre-release weekend, you can also buy displays from the new set (a whole box with 36 booster packs). Otherwise, you must wait until the following week when it officially releases. You do not need to participate in the tournament to buy displays. The rest of the store is of course also open, and Card Collective's friendly staff is always ready with advice and guidance, whether it concerns the tournament, Magic in general, or if you just also need to buy some paint or a board game while you're there.

Magic the Gathering pre-release has a limited number of spots, so it's a good idea to reserve a spot either by coming into the store or by buying a ticket online.
