Adeptus Mechanicus is the official Imperial designation for the Cult Mechanicus or Cult of the Machine on Mars - providing the empire with its scientists, engineers, and technicians.

The technicians of the Mechanicus are considered the primary guardians of sacred knowledge, used to maintain and create most of the empire's advanced technology.

In ancient times, before the Horus Heresy was over, the Mechanicus was instead called the Mechanicum.
