Product information

From the cliffs of Edinburgh to the sunny harbor of Constantinople and back to a windy station in Berlin.

In Ticket to Ride Europe, you must build railroad routes from city to city across Europe in the early 20th century. The longer routes you can form, the more points you earn. If you can also connect the cities on your route cards, you can earn extra bonus points. If your opponents get in the way by establishing railroads on "your" routes, you can use your stations to still complete the route. However, you only have three of these available throughout the game.

Will you build tunnels in Switzerland, take the ferry across the Black Sea, or build lavish train stations in impressive cities? Your next decision might just make you Europe's greatest train magnate! Pack your bags, greet the conductor, and board the train.

Rules in Danish and other Nordic languages.

How to play Ticket to Ride Europe

The player who has visited the most European countries in their lifetime starts the game, and play continues from there in a clockwise direction. When it is a player's turn, they must perform one of four following actions:

  • Draw two train cards. You can choose to draw from the top of the deck face down, or from those that are face up.
  • Claim a route. A player claims a route by laying down the correct number of cards in the same color that matches the route they wish to claim. For example, if you have your eye on a purple stretch consisting of five trains, you must have five purple train cards in hand.
  • Draw destination cards. The player draws three destination cards from the top of the deck and must keep at least one of them.
  • Build a train station. A player may build a train station in a city where there is not already one. To build their first station, they lay down a random train card from their hand and place one of their stations in the city they wish. To build their second station, they must have two cards in the same color. And to build their third station, they must have three cards in the same color.

The goal of the game is to score the highest number of points. Points can be scored in the following ways:

  • Claiming a route between two adjacent cities
  • Completing a continuous route between two cities indicated on one of the retained destination cards
