Utopia Planitia

Utopia is a lava plain located northwest of Elysium and belongs to the northern lowlands. It is also the largest recognized impact crater in the entire solar system! Mineral-rich lava can be turned into fertile soil, promoting the many plant bonuses away from the equator. To the south, it borders the great escarpment along the edge of the southern highlands. The thin crust closer to the North Pole could be a suitable place for geothermal energy plants. Gain 2 extra cards to settle on the prestigious Viking 2 or Beagle 2 landing sites! The Utopia card lacks volcanoes and the Noctis region, so pieces from the Noctis City cards and cards that place pieces in volcanic areas (for example, Lava Flows) lose their placement restrictions and can be placed in any non-reserved area.

Terra Cimmeria

Terra Cimmeria is a densely packed crater-filled highland area in Mars' southern hemisphere, halfway to the South Pole, east of the Hellas basin. This is the best place on the planet to find steel and titanium! The entire region shows signs of coastlines and water erosion from liquid water that once flowed abundantly through the southern highlands. The lowlands suitable for oceans in the present day lie along the edges of this region. Placing a piece where the Curiosity rover explored the area around Gale Crater places a colony for 5 M€ (ignore if not playing with colonies). The Cimmeria card does not have the Noctis region, so Noctis City can be placed without its restriction. However, it has four volcanic areas where pieces like Lava Flows can be placed: Albor Tholus, Tyrrhenus Mons, Hadriacus Mons, and Apollinaris Mons.
