Terraforming Mars - Hellas & Elysium (Exp) (English)

Hellas & Elysium is an expansion for Terraforming Mars, consisting of a double-sided game board, covering their respective regions, and with each region comes a number of new Milestones and Awards, specially tailored to the map.

Hellas is the wild area to the south, located around Mars' south pole. The area includes a massive crater. If you build around the south pole, you can gain bonuses in the form of heat and water, which are welcome on a planet like Mars. Elysium is on the other side of Mars right at the equator. Here, there are also bonuses to be won in the form of extra cards if you build on Olympus Mons, which is a highlight in the solar system. By building and improving these areas, you can earn awards for your efforts. For example, you can earn points and awards by being the race that has the most settlements by Elysium's water. The game consists of the double-sided game board. This gives you new opportunities by replacing the base game's Tharsis game board with this new game board.

This edition of the game is English.

This is an expansion and cannot be played without the base game. 

How to play Terraforming Mars:

In Terraforming Mars, each player is an organization that must work together to make Mars habitable. However, they are also competing to earn the most victory points, which can be achieved by helping with the process, but also by carrying out other projects for the organization itself both on Mars and in space.

The game is played in so-called generations. In each generation, you must go through 3 important parts:
In the Research Phase, each player draws 4 project cards and can choose which ones to buy for 3M€ each.

In the Action Phase, each player can take two of the following actions:

• Pay for a project card from their hand or a standard project
• Buy a milestone or fund an award
• Use an action from a blue card
• Use 8 plant resources to build a green area on the board
• Use 8 heat resources to raise the temperature

When player 1 has done one or two things, it is the next player's turn. When all other players have done one or two things, player 1 has the opportunity to take more actions. The turn continues until everyone has passed.

In the Production Phase, each player receives new resources corresponding to what is on the production table. When all phases are complete, the marker moves to the next player and the next generation begins.

When all 9 oceans have been placed on Mars, the temperature has risen to +8 degrees, and the oxygen level is at 14%, the game ends. Players finish the ongoing generation. After that, players have the opportunity, in turn, to place plant fields on Mars using plant resources. Then the points are tallied. The winner is the one with the most points!
