Terraforming Mars (English)

Terraforming Mars is a strategy game about making Mars habitable for humanity. Each player controls a mega-corporation, all contributing to making the planet inhabitable in a massive project spanning several generations. Throughout the game, cities are established, forests are planted, and oceans are created on the planet, companies develop technology and each find their own way to victory. Players can focus on creating life suitable for living on Mars, developing mining operations or utilizing asteroids and meteors to acquire more raw materials for the planet, etc.

Terraforming Mars is a complex and challenging board game that has won many awards for its exciting vision, the many possibilities within the game, and the numerous different strategies players can focus on during the game. The game can be played in several different ways, whether you are experienced or a beginner, and it works well both as a solitaire game and for multiple players.

How to play Terraforming Mars:

In Terraforming Mars, each player is an organization that together will make Mars habitable. However, they also compete to earn the most victory points, which can be achieved both by assisting with the process and by carrying out other projects for the organization itself both on Mars and in space.

The game is played in so-called generations. In each generation, players must go through 3 important parts:
In the Research Phase, each player draws 4 project cards and can choose which to purchase for 3M€ each.

In the Action Phase, each player can perform two of the following actions:

• Pay for a project card from their hand or a standard project
• Buy a milestone or fund a prize
• Use an action from a blue card
• Use 8 plant resources to build a green area on the board
• Use 8 heat resources to raise the temperature

When player 1 has done one or two things, it's the next player's turn. Once all other players have done one or two things, player 1 has the opportunity to perform more actions. The turn continues until everyone has passed.

In the Production Phase, each player gains new resources that correspond to those on the production table. When all phases are complete, the marker moves to the next player and the next generation begins.

When all 9 oceans are placed on Mars, the temperature has risen to +8 degrees and the oxygen level is at 14%, the game ends. Players finish the ongoing generation. Thereafter, players have the opportunity, in turn, to place plant fields on Mars, using plant resources. Subsequently, the points are counted. The winner is the one with the most points!
