The ultimate card game that combines skill, strategy, and entertainment.
The game may remind you a bit of Rummikub in the rules when you first try it, as you have some numbers in hand (in Skip-Bo, however, they are not number tiles but cards) while laying down some numbers in front of you, and the number cards must be used to create number sequences.
Four piles of Skip-Bo cards are placed on the table, which are shared among all players.
All players also receive a stack of cards, which is placed in front of the player with the backs facing up - except for the top card which is turned over. Players should have 30 cards each if there are 2, 3, or 4 players, and 20 cards each if there are 5 or 6 players.
Then it’s about getting through this pile of cards and laying them out on the four piles of cards in the middle of the table.
Each time it’s your turn, you can place the top card on one of the four card piles, but it requires that the number on the card is exactly one number higher than the top card in the pile it is placed on.
When you lay one of your cards out on the piles in the middle, you immediately turn over the next card in your stack. As long as you can lay out cards, you can continue, and you can also use the cards you have lying on the table as well as those in your hand. That is, you have both some number cards that are visible to the other players (those on the table) and some that are not visible to the others.
There are also wild cards in the game, which say "Skip-Bo" on them, that can be played as any number.
Skip-Bo can be played in two different ways. It can be played as individuals or you can play together in pairs. When playing together in pairs, you must help your partner finish, and you have not won until both on the team have used all their cards. When playing together in pairs, it is not allowed for the partner to talk to the other party while it is his/her turn. Thus, it sometimes happens that you overlook that you can lay out a card, and that is a fun part of the game.
