Product information

The terrible Onobi has never been more dangerous than now... He has set foot in the Circle of Spirit and is now attacking the sacred tree, while his flames threaten all living things in the forest. But the Nature Spirits do not fight alone: Sanki has sent small light beings, called Kodama, to help them.

In Living Forest: Kodama, you play as one of four Nature Spirits, trying to make the most of Kodama's help.

Kodama adds a new action to the game, where you can buy Kodama cards, which you can add to your helper line and your forest. In addition, the expansion also adds 2 new types of guardian animals to the game and 6 new trees.

The expansion also adds a solo mode!

Note: this is an expansion and cannot be played without the base game Living Forest.

How to play Living Forest:

Each turn is divided into 3 phases:

  1. Guardian Animals: all guardian animals are played at the same time. You draw a card from your deck and turn it face up - this creates your helper line. You can stop drawing cards whenever you want. If you draw a card with a third solitary symbol, you must stop drawing cards. This closes your helper line.
  2. Action: The Nature Spirits take turns. If your helper line has less than 3 solitary symbols, you can perform 2 different actions. If your helper line has 3 symbols, you can only perform 1 action. How good your actions are is determined by the number of elements visible on your guardian animals and on your player board.
  3. A NEW ACTION. Now you can buy one (and only one) Kodama card each turn, which is placed in your deck in the same way as the guardian animals. These Kodama cards give you a Kodama symbol. You must add the Kodama symbols to your helper line and your forest.
  4. End of the turn.
    1. You are attacked by Onibi. If there is still fire in the center of the spirit circle, and you cannot resist them - you receive as many Fire Varan cards to your discard pile as there are fire pieces.
    2. Onibi attacks the sacred tree. Add as many fire pieces to the center of the spirit circle as there were guardian animals drawn this turn.
    3. New cards are drawn for the guardian animal reserve. The number of cards is determined by the level and how many cards were taken in that turn.
    4. Pass the sacred tree to the next nature spirit - clockwise.
    5. Move all your guardian animal cards from your helper line to your personal discard pile.

The game ends when one of the nature spirits has managed to collect either 12 different protective trees, 12 fire pieces, or 12 sacred flowers.
