Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Ed. - Essentials Set

The Essentials Kit is designed to make it easy to learn the rules of D&D. The rulebook is supported by practical reference cards, and you get a lot of tools to customize your D&D experience, such as how to tailor your characters to your preferences.

There are also special rules for 1-on-1 roleplaying, meaning roleplaying between the Dungeon Master and one player, so even if you can't gather a whole group, you can still get started playing.

The set includes the adventure Dragon of Icespire Peak, which can be played alongside The Mines of Phandelver from the D&D Starter Set.

Dragon of Icespire Peak is a sandbox adventure and therefore does not have a fixed narrative structure. The basic story is that the players are adventurers who can be hired, travel the land, and undertake various missions. This leads to them leveling up and acquiring items that allow them to challenge a specific white dragon that has been terrorizing the land.

In a sandbox adventure, players choose which direction they want to go. This is often done by placing a map in front of the players with several points of interest and perhaps a few sparse rumors to guide the way.
