What is D&D 2024 - Player's Handbook?

After 10 years with D&D 5e, Wizards of the Coast has decided to update the game's core books: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, and Monster Manual. This new Player's Handbook (PHB) is the first release and will contain several significant changes to the current rules, but the core essence will still be based on 5e.

These new adjustments will make the game easier to learn, as well as faster and more fun to play. Most of the content of the books is based on feedback from players around the world!

The best part about these new books is that they are backward compatible, so the new rules work with all the D&D 5e books you may already own!

What does the new Player's Handbook contain?

The new PHB will be the largest edition of the book to date with updated classes, subclasses, weapon systems, feats, etc.

  • 12 different classes. All the classic DnD classes are still here, but in new revised editions.
  • 48 different subclasses. Each class will have the option to choose between 4 different subclasses.
  • 144 origin choices. These provide players access to new feats and abilities.
  • New Weapon Mastery system. Gives players access to more abilities when using specific weapons.
  • New Artwork. Everyone loves to look at the beautiful illustrations in D&D books, and the new PHB will be filled with new art, including more illustrations of weapons and spells.
