The world is large and your kingdom is small. Small compared to the world at least, that is, it is moderate in relation to other kingdoms.
But in a large world like this - large compared to smaller worlds at least, if such things exist; it is moderate in relation to worlds of about the same size and a bit small compared to worlds just a little larger - yes, to make a long story short - short compared to longer stories at least - it is time to stretch your boundaries.
You have heard of distant places - exotic lands where they have pancakes but no waffles, where the people wear the wrong number of shirts and don't even have a word for the look two people give each other when they each hope the other will do something that they both want done, but that neither of them wants to do.
It is to these lands that you now turn your gaze.
Note, this is an expansion and cannot be played without the base game Dominion, or a pack of basic cards.
Dominion: Hinterlands 2nd edition introduces new aspects through different card combinations (e.g. a victory/reaction card and a treasure/reaction card) and through the way the cards react, as a number of cards have the effect "when you gain" or "when you buy", which puts more effects into play during a player's turn.
Last but not least, the new treasure and victory cards have extra effects, which means they not only provide points and gold, but also have effects when played.
Hinterlands 2nd edition is an expansion that focuses on the interaction with the other expansions.
Hinterlands 2nd edition contains almost the same cards as the first version of Hinterlands, but the wording on several of the cards has been changed and a few new cards have been introduced.
In Dominion, you have three phases to go through each time it is your turn: A, B, and C. Action, Buy, and Cleanup.
When three of the stacks in The Supply are depleted, the game ends, and everyone counts their victory points together. The one with the most points wins.
