Xanathar is the name of the criminal Beholder that resides in the dungeons beneath Waterdeep. It is not the first Beholder to claim this title, nor will it be the last.
Like all Beholders, Xanathar is a paranoid tyrant who charms and oppresses his minions to serve him. The Xanathar Guild consists of some of Waterdeep's most dishonest people, as well as monsters forced into submission or lured to the Beholder with the promise of wealth, food, or power.
