It is the 21st century, and Catan stands at a crossroads. The agrarian society of the island's Viking ancestors is long gone. Today's Catanians need energy to keep society running and growing, but pollution ravages the island.

You must decide: Do you invest in clean energy sources or choose cheaper fossil fuels, which could potentially have catastrophic consequences for the island?

Catan: New Energy is a new, standalone game that builds on classic CATAN mechanics such as harvesting, trading, and building. New game features like power plants, energy tokens, and environmental events add new strategies and stories to a familiar foundation.
