Catan Junior compact and travel-friendly edition!
Now you finally have the opportunity to play Catan with the kids and introduce them to this fantastic game.
Catan Junior is similar to the original Catan, but can easily be played even if you are not familiar with the adult version.
On a ring of islands, players can build pirate hideouts and explore the mysterious haunted island where the ghost captain resides. Along the way, players are assisted by the parrot Coco.
Each of the islands in Catan Junior provides its own resources in the form of wood, goats, sugarcane, and swords, which players use to acquire ships and hideouts, or to get help from Coco.
Along the way, the ghost captain appears and causes trouble. The first player to build seven hideouts wins the game.
How to play Catan Junior
Each player has a total of seven pirate cave pieces. The winner is the one who first builds them all.
In each round, the player whose turn it is must do the following:
- Roll the dice. The outcome determines which fields yield resources.
- Make one trade. Either exchange two identical resource pieces for one other piece in the stock, or trade one-to-one with the pieces in the lifebuoys, where the selection is not always that large.
- Build pirate caves and pirate ships. You can build as many as you can afford.
- Buy a parrot card. The outcome is random – some cards give you resources, while others let you build a cave or a ship completely free of charge.
This continues until one player has built all their pirate caves.
