Castle Builder (Nordic)

The barons try to impress each other and the king by building beautiful castles. When you place pieces in your castle, your baron moves along a path to collect bonuses, and the first to reach 7 coins wins the game. Build high to move further, and add elements like windows and roof tiles to gain even more bonuses along the way.

On your turn, you can either draw 2 Pieces to your piece holder ('hand'), or you can build a piece for your castle, either from your hand or from the common market. Depending on which piece you build and where you place it, your baron is allowed to move a certain number of steps. If you land on an opponent, you pass for free! If you land on a bonus, you collect it, and if you land on or pass a coin bonus, you take a coin from the coin market. Each coin has an immediate one-time effect, and the first to reach 7 coins wins the game. An example of a coin effect could be: 'The player with the most windows on the castle draws 2 Pieces.' This increases the competition and the importance of timing.

When you build, your piece number must be the sum of the 2 pieces it is built on, rewarding careful planning. Adjustments of +-1 can be paid for. Some pieces can be placed on any number, but often limit how you can continue upward.
