Product information

Carcassonne is a tile placement game where players draw and place a tile featuring a piece of southern French landscape. The tile can have a city, a road, a monastery, grasslands, or a combination thereof, and it must be placed next to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, etc.

Princess & Dragon introduces new tiles, new pieces, and new rules to Carcassonne. There are magical gates, dragons with their volcanoes, and fairies with this expansion, but also castle maidens.

  • The Dragon - a series of tiles contains a volcano where the dragon resides, and a series of tiles have a dragon symbol, indicating that the dragon moves on the board and eats everything it encounters! On their turn, players move the dragon one space, and pieces on that space are returned to their owner.
  • The magical gates are depicted on other tiles, and through them, you can send one of your men to an available tile elsewhere in the game.
  • The Fairy is a wooden piece that you can choose to move instead of placing a man. The fairy provides a safe haven from the dragon, and the fairy grants bonus points if it stands on a space where there is a piece.
  • The Castle Maiden is depicted on city tiles, and if added to a city where there is a piece, you can choose to remove the piece from the city, as the castle maiden marries the piece.

This is an expansion and can not be played without the base game Carcassonne.

How to play Carcassonne:

On your turn, you must perform the following actions, in order:

  1. Draw and place a new land tile
  2. Place a man or another miniature piece on the placed tile (optional)
  3. Score points if a road, a city, a monastery, or a cult site is completed.

You can place a man and get it back in the same turn if you thereby complete a road, a city, or a monastery. The markers are counted at the end, meaning that men on fields remain throughout the game.

The player with the most points wins the game.

The Princess & The Dragon includes:

  • 30 tiles/land tiles
  • 1 Dragon
  • 1 Fairy
  • Rules
