Reign of Terror is a two-part historical scenario set during the French Revolution! It can be played as a standalone adventure or as a historical interlude to Horror on the Orient Express.
This book provides a standalone setting, with a wealth of historical details that can help any Keeper bring Paris and the French Revolution to life, with plenty of illustrations and a map of Paris, the Palace of Versailles, and much more! Along with the two-part scenario, there are scenario "seeds" that allow for the expansion of the scenario and the building of a longer and more in-depth campaign.
"The blade is balanced, made of sharp steel. The light glimmers on a small pattern on the blade, a concentric circle. The audience holds their collective breath. Time stands still for a moment, and then the blade falls."
A time of struggle, intrigue, and terror. A divided land, where the upper class enjoys the bounty of wealth, but the poor can’t even afford bread. Where cries of anger over life's injustices gain momentum, causing the people to unite and overthrow the old regime for a brighter and more hopeful tomorrow. Over time, hope will be replaced with fear as Terror descends upon France, and the guillotine calls for blood.
Reign of Terror is developed by Call of Cthulhu's mastermind Mark Morrison, as a secret chapter to Horror on the Orient Express.
Part 1 takes place in 1789, at the height of the revolution - the investigators descend into the catacombs of Paris to defy the courtly life, where debauchery and evil bring their own horrors.
Part 2 takes place during the Terror, throwing the investigators into a conspiracy, where spies and agents seek out those who would destabilize the new regime. Caught amidst chaos and dangers in Paris, the investigators must attempt to stop a nightmare that will cast a shadow over both France and the rest of Europe.
