With the advent of the car in the 1920s, people were no longer bound to the railroads as a means of getting back and forth. For those who could afford the relative luxury of owning a car, the USA's highway system brought the opportunity to travel and see new places, as well as visit those individuals that the railroads did not reach.
But the new road network also means that strangers have begun to find their way to isolated and closed-off areas. Places where they may not be welcome, and where ancient secrets have lain hidden for generations. Who knows what lurks behind the curtains in the houses you drive past? What dangers lie along the roadside?
Dead Light and Other Dark Turns contains 2 scenarios for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition, each dealing with adventures on the roads as well as 6 story "seeds" that the Keeper can develop and explore as they see fit.
The classic Dead Light scenario, now revised, involves an encounter with a distressed young woman who leads the investigators into a crime that went horribly wrong. The updated edition of Dead Light features new artwork by Magda Meiszczak, Doruk Golcu, and Caleb Cleveland. There are also some issues in the original edition that have been corrected (e.g., a reference to an NPC, Walter the Pump Jockey, who is not actually in the story).
Saturnine Chalice is a brand new scenario where you seek help from a nearby homeowner after your vehicle runs out of gas. But you soon find yourselves trapped in a house that is not quite what you thought.
Both scenarios can be used as standalone adventures with one to two sessions, or they can be integrated into an existing campaign. They pair well with Call of Cthulhu: Keeper Rulebook or Call of Cthulhu: Starter Set.
