The Soviet Union effectively used medium-caliber mortars to support infantry, with the 82 mm M-37 and M-41 being the most common. The design was simple, robust, and almost foolproof – right to the front line.

As an essential part of Heavy Weapons Platoons in Bolt Action, medium mortars allow commanders to fire indirect fire over the heads of troops while ignoring cover when they hit their targets. With spotters to correct the shots, they can control large areas of the battlefield if used correctly.
