Panther was the best all-round German tank of the war, and although it was conceived as a medium tank, weighing 45 tons and with frontal armor over 100 mm thick, it could easily be rated higher.
The Panther's thick, sloped frontal armor was copied from the Russian T-34, but the main gun, High-velocity KwK 42 L70, was a weapon that far surpassed anything the Russians possessed. It was capable of shooting through any Allied tank in service when it was introduced.
This is the second version of the tank, built from mid-1943 onwards, it was used on both Eastern and Western fronts. Strangely, the models did not follow alphabetical order. Changes to the original Panther include a redesigned machine gun and a Commander's cupola.
