Regarded as invincible by the Allied forces in the early stages of World War II, the Japanese soldier was a brave, disciplined, often fanatical warrior who sometimes fought to the death against overwhelming odds. The Imperial Japanese Army was truly a force that could conquer everything in front of them and carve out a vast empire at the beginning of the war.
