The British Royal Navy has a centuries-long outstanding history and a reputation for excellence. Throughout the early 20th century, Britannia continued to rule the waves. Scattered around the world, Royal Navy ships were able to land units of armed sailors as landing parties, coastal patrols, or in boarding actions against other vessels.
Primarily armed with the reliable Lee Enfield rifle and often supported by a Lewis machine gun, sections of highly disciplined and well-equipped sailors with significant close combat experience are a formidable opponent.
As World War II progressed, this role would also be taken on by khaki-clad Royal Navy Commando or Royal Marine sections, although naval landing parties remained in action throughout the war. Dressed in their dark blue uniforms and 1908 pattern webbing, these Jack Tars will add a splash of color to an otherwise khaki British force.
