In Bohnanza, you must plant and harvest beans to earn coins. Each player starts with a handful of random bean cards - each card has a number corresponding to the number of that type of beans in the pile.
Unlike most other card games, you cannot rearrange the order of cards in your hand; instead, you must play the cards as you draw them - unless you can trade them with one of the other players.
Bohnanza: 25th Anniversary is a special anniversary edition of the game that includes a brand new type of bean and comes with three different ways to play the game - one of which uses the collector's coin that is in the box.
On your turn, you must plant up to 2 cards from your hand in the fields in front of you. Each field can only hold one type of bean, so if you want to plant a type that is not already in one of your fields, you must harvest one of them to make room for the new one.
Next, you must flip two cards from the pile, where you can then trade one of them with a card you have in hand or with cards from one of the other players. Finally, you draw cards from the pile and place them at the back of your hand.
When you harvest beans, you earn coins based on the number of bean cards in that particular field and the "beanometer" for that type of bean. Flip 1-4 cards from the field to convert them into coins, and then place the remaining cards in the discard pile. When the pile has been played through 3 times, everyone must harvest their fields, and the one who has earned the most coins is the winner.
