Warcry

Warcry is a miniature game set in the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universe. Here, you engage in fast-paced tactical battles with a handful of miniatures on a game board that takes up a fraction of the space used in Age of Sigmar. Warcry also introduces 6 new Chaos factions, such as the heavily armored Iron Golems and the wild Untamed Beasts.

Deep within the domain of the chaos lord Archaon, various groups of chaos worshippers fight each other to prove their worth in battle. In Warcry, you control a group of warriors from one of these factions (A handful of non-Chaos races from Age of Sigmar have also been included). You decide which units from your faction to include, as long as you stay within the 1000 points you are allowed to spend. This allows you to tailor your group of warriors to fit your specific play style. Your opponent brings their own warriors and you are now ready to meet on the battlefield.

Warcry can be played as a standalone game (matched play), where two players meet on equal terms. Alternatively, you can play Warcry as a thrilling campaign, where you retain and develop your warriors over many fierce battles. Playing Warcry this way allows you to see your warriors grow stronger, discover mysterious treasures, and gain access to new forbidden powers. If you dare take the risk, you can even seek out and fight against giant monsters, which you can defeat and force to fight for you in later battles.

The rules in Warcry are easy to learn, but don't be fooled. It is important to have a good strategy and know when to activate your warriors and when to use their special abilities. A unique element in Warcry is that before a battle starts, cards are drawn that dictate how the game is set up. One card shows how the associated terrain should be placed on the game board. Another explains the conditions for winning the battle. It can be anything from killing a specific miniature to holding certain objects on the field. A random special rule typically applies throughout the game and finally, it is also determined where and in which turn your warriors enter the battlefield. These random elements require you to adapt your strategy to each individual game of Warcry.

At Aalborg Card Collective, we are all big fans of Warcry and are happy to assist if you want to come into the store for a trial game, or need guidance on how to start playing yourself.

As with all miniature games, a big part of the joy of Warcry is painting your miniatures. Find inspiration in the books and the images on the boxes, or invent your own unique way to paint your warriors. Maybe your Cypher Lords should have a fire theme? Or should Corvus Cabal be painted like exotic birds? Only your imagination sets the limits. Every Wednesday is hobby night at Aalborg Card Collective, where all hobby enthusiasts are invited to bring miniatures and paint to sit in good company and paint. Get inspiration and advice in a friendly and welcoming environment.
