Ultra PRO is the leading manufacturer and supplier of accessories and protective products for card collections, as well as photo albums, scrapbooks, full-page pockets, and Ultra Sleeves^TM, which are a series of protective disposable sleeves for laptops. Known for its high quality and innovative designs, Ultra PRO has been designing and manufacturing its products since 1952.

Background

Ultra PRO is a private, family-owned company headquartered near Los Angeles in California with warehouses in California and Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Ultra PRO markets and sells its products through a network of over 150 distributors and customers in North America, Europe, and Asia, who in turn distribute Ultra PRO products to thousands of hobby shops, toy stores, and other retailers around the world.

Card Sleeves

Ultra PRO was the company that released the first card sleeves specially designed for trading card games and collector cards back in 1995. At that time, the card sleeves were called 'deck protectors'. Ultra PRO's original deck protectors were a harder and more uniform version of traditional card sleeves as we know them today. The first deck protectors were clear on both sides, but soon after, they were also produced with an opaque back, so the back of the card could no longer be seen. Since then, more back colors have been added, and sleeves with designs on the back were even produced.

Collaboration with Wizards of the Coast

Since 2006, Ultra PRO and Wizards of the Coast, the creators of the iconic trading card game Magic the Gathering, have entered into a strategic partnership. In this context, Ultra PRO has produced a range of specific products for Magic the Gathering. These include sleeves (card sleeves), binders, deck boxes for storing card games, playmats, life counters (keeps track of life totals), land caddies (sorting trays for land cards), and Relic Tokens (keeps track of token creatures and possibly lives). In addition to having a license to make products for Magic the Gathering, Ultra PRO also has products suitable for Pokémon, Bella Sara, sports cards, and other well-known trading card games.
