Soulbound RPG

As Sigmar's storm began to drive back the Chaos armies, hope was kindled among the citizens of the Mortal Realms. Civilizations began to flourish, becoming new bastions of Order, and for a moment, it seemed that the endless darkness could be held at bay. But just as everything seemed well, the Necroquake began, and Nagash's undead legions rose to smash Sigmar's cities. Hope slowly faded again as darkness closed in on the Mortal Realms.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound is the first tabletop RPG set in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar universe. Soulbound allows you to choose from a wide selection of characters from the Age of Sigmar universe, including Stormcast Eternals, Duardins, Idoneth Deepkin, and many more.

HeaderMore about Soulbound RPGBlockText2

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Soulbound takes place across The Mortal Realms: separate realms connected by portals. Scattered among these realms are a number of cities, home to the realm's citizens and serving as fortresses protecting them from the evil forces fighting for Chaos, Death, and Destruction. The realms are filled with monsters, magic, and other dangers threatening to destroy the last bastions of civilization. You are Soulbound: heroes chosen by the gods to stand against all the horrors threatening the Mortal Realms, tasked with stopping Chaos, Death, and Destruction. Gather a group of the most powerful heroes in the realm and fight hordes of ghouls, undead, and daemons in a desperate attempt to survive.

If you are familiar with the Age of Sigmar miniature games, you will recognize many elements in Soulbound, as both games take place in the same world. Unlike the miniature games, each player controls only a single character. The game unfolds like a kind of verbal improvised drama, where players, in collaboration with the Game Master, create a story with the players' characters in the leading roles. It is the Game Master's role to control the rest of the characters and monsters the players encounter, as well as to create and elaborate the cities and locations the players visit. It is important to keep in mind that the player and Game Master are not against each other even though the Game Master controls the game's monsters. Tabletop role-playing games like Soulbound are primarily about creating an exciting narrative together.

Soulbound is a role-playing game with epic dimensions, and the players' characters have access to enormously powerful abilities, making it feel like you are playing a superhero with a sword and armor. There are 23 different archetypes to play as in the base game. These also help determine which faction your character belongs to, e.g., Stormcast Eternal, Daughter's of Khaine, or Sylvaneth. Several of these archetypes also have access to magic, allowing them to cast powerful spells. In true Warhammer style, this is not without risks, as a spell can quickly backfire, resulting in anything from losing a turn to summoning dangerous "endless spells."

Since Soulbound takes place in the same universe as Age of Sigmar, it is ideal to use miniatures from Warhammer AoS to represent characters in combat. This applies to both the players' characters and many of the enemies and monsters they will encounter. There are plenty of beautiful miniatures from Age of Sigmar, and many of them also have stat blocks for Soulbound.

If you are interested in trying out Soulbound, you can start with the starter set. Here you will find everything you need to get started right away. The set includes, among other things, 5 pre-made characters, dice, tokens, a map of the city of Brightspear, and two books – one describing the city of Brightspear, and one containing a short adventure.
