Monopoly rules

The aim of Monopoly is simply to buy, rent, and sell properties as advantageously as possible, so you can become the richest player. You can be between 2 – 6 players and all players start at the "Start" space on the game board. Additionally, a player must be chosen to manage the "bank" before the game starts, and this person distributes 30,000 to each player.

The game continues until a winner is found. On their turn, a player rolls a die and then moves their piece the correct number of spaces on the board. If they land on a space that is not already owned, they can choose to buy it from the bank. When other players land on this space, they will have to pay rent to the player who owns the space. If the player does not want to buy the space, it is put up for auction.

  • Houses and Hotels. If one wishes to further utilize their properties, they can choose to build houses or hotels on a property. This significantly increases the rent, so opponents landing on the property will have to pay more money to the owner.

  • The Bank. All deposits and withdrawals are handled by the bank. Whether buying a property or building a hotel, the price is paid to the bank. The only exception is the payment of rent when landing on an opponent's property. Rent is paid directly to the opponent. If one faces financial difficulties, they can mortgage properties to the bank to get some more money to work with.

  • Try Your Luck. Around the game board, there are "Try Your Luck" spaces. If one lands on one of these, they must draw a card from the deck of cards in the middle of the game board. The cards contain actions that must be performed immediately. These can be things like fines and jail, but can also be good things like free cash.
