Chinese Checkers

Here you will find our collection of Chinese Checkers games. This classic board game, contrary to what the name suggests, did not originate from China but was instead invented in Germany back in 1892. The game is a modern and simpler version of a game called Halma. Chinese Checkers has been played for several generations and the name was part of a marketing strategy in the USA in 1928. The game is easy to learn and since up to 6 people can play, it is a perfect addition to most family game shelves!

Chinese Checkers is played on a board shaped like a six-pointed star with ten holes at each corner. Each player starts the game with ten pieces, which need to be moved from their corner to the opposite corner. The player who moves all their pieces across first wins.

The game can be played by 2, 3, 4, or 6 players and since it is a very simple game, it is particularly well-suited for families, as it allows everyone to be involved regardless of age. The game also involves enough tactical planning to help develop strategic skills among the youngest players. Chinese Checkers is also a very quick game, so it can easily be played without taking up the whole evening.

Chinese Checkers Rules

Chinese Checkers is a very simple game where 2 to 6 players compete to move their pieces from one side of the board to the opposite side. In the video below, you can see a brief overview of the rules:

Move the Pieces

In Chinese Checkers, players take turns moving their pieces. On their turn, a player may move a single piece forward. You can only move the piece one space forward or you may "jump over" other pieces to move further. You can only jump over one piece at a time, but you are allowed to continue moving the same piece as long as there are possible moves to make with it. You cannot combine jumping over other pieces with a single space move.
