Citadel Miniatures Limited is a British company that produces metal, resin, and plastic miniatures for miniature-based wargames such as Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, which was later replaced by Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Previously, Citadel Miniatures was an independent company, but in 1979 it became a brand for another British game company, namely Games Workshop.

Development of the Miniatures

Originally, Citadel miniatures were produced using a lead-containing white metal, which for health reasons was replaced with lead-free white metal in 1997. In 1987, Citadel also began producing plastic miniatures under the names 'Psychostyrene' and 'Drastik Plastik'. Some of the older miniatures were a combination of both materials, with the armless bodies and heads made of metal, while the arms and weapons were made of plastic.

Most of Citadel's miniatures require self-assembly after purchase. For example, one often has to glue arms, weapons, and bases onto the small Citadel miniatures. The larger Citadel miniatures often come in several parts and thus require even more construction by hand.
