In Warhammer 40k, chaos is many things: a metaphysical concept; an ever-present, corrupting force; a widespread religion found across the galaxy - and of course, one of the main groupings of factions in Games Workshop's gothic sci-fi war game.

Chaos Daemons
Chaos Daemons are an army consisting of all the daemons of Chaos from the small Horrors to the large Greater Daemons such as the fearsome Bloodthirster of Khorne. You can read more about them here.

Chaos Knights
Chaos Knights, also known as Renegade Knights, Daemon Knights, and Questor Traitoris in high gothic, are Imperial Knight combat walkers that have turned to serve Chaos. You can read more about them here.

Chaos Space Marines
Chaos Space Marines, also called Traitor Marines, Renegade Marines, or Heretic Astartes, are former Space Marines of the Imperium of Man who have chosen to turn their backs on the Emperor of Man and instead surrender themselves to Chaos. You can read more about them here.

Death Guard
Death Guard are part of the Chaos Space Marines. They exclusively worship the Chaos god Nurgle, and have thus become Plague Marines; Astartes who are rotting away under their armor and infected with every kind of disease, yet are immune to all sorts of pain and minor injuries. Thousand Sons
Thousand Sons are part of the Chaos Space Marines, who have sworn their allegiance to Tzeentch, the Chaos God of change, intrigue, and sorcery. However, they were once the Imperium of Man's XVth Legion of Space Marines. You can read more about them here.
